GENERAL MANAGER OF AIRPORT OPERATIONS Facilities 2025-2

Essential Duties

  • Direct, oversee, and coordinate skilled trades personnel across disciplines and management staff engaged in construction, repair, and maintenance work.
  • Work with senior staff and design staff in planning, scheduling, and managing largescale inhouse projects related to the airports infrastructure.
  • Consult with professional engineers and architects for remodeling or other projects requiring design services, construction drawings, or specifications.
  • Review and evaluate the work performance of supervisory personnel, recommending disciplinary action when needed.
  • Coordinate and participate in human resources activities (e.g., interviewing, employee relations).
  • Direct and monitor training programs for Skilled Trades staff to ensure adherence with FAA regulations and department work requirements.
  • Establish, develop, and participate in the operational budgeting process, including financial reports and tracking expenditures.
  • Review work summaries submitted by supervisory staff and generate comprehensive activity reports.
  • Serve as a liaison with airport tenants and respond to inquiries regarding the status of repairs and maintenance issues.
  • Represent the department at meetings with federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Manage and monitor airport O&M contracts, contractor performance, and participate in contract scope development.
  • Authorize and approve the requisitioning of work materials, supplies, and equipment to complete work projects; monitor overtime and progress to keep projects within budget.
  • Perform other jobrelated duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Mention one of the following:

  • 9 years of airport or airfield operations experience, 3 of which in a supervisory role; or
  • Associates degree in Business Administration, Aviation Management, or related field plus 7 years of airport or airfield operations experience, 3 of which supervisory; or
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Aviation Management, or related field plus 5 years of airport or airfield operations experience, 3 of which supervisory; or
  • Masters degree in Business Administration, Aviation Management, or related field plus 4 years of airport or airfield operations experience, 3 of which supervisory.

Licensure, Certification or Other Qualifications

  • A valid State of Illinois drivers license.
  • Must obtain airfield certification within three months of hire.
  • Must pass a Ground Motor Vehicle Operating Basic Driving test (Yellow Stripe) within 90 days of hire.

Location and Work Hours

Location: CDA Facilities Section, 11601 W. Touhy Ave., BLD#891, Chicago, IL60666.
Days: MondayFriday.
Hours: 7:00AM 3:00PM.
