American Traveler is hiring an experienced ER RN for night shifts in a busy off-campus emergency department, requiring strong ED skills and a WA or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n
  • Work in an off-campus emergency department with approximately 10 ED beds and additional hallway treatment spaces
  • Patient population includes neonates through geriatrics, with 25% pediatrics, walk-in traumas, and a variety of acute cases
  • Average census ranges from 60 to 110 patients per day depending on location
  • Nurses may need to float between multiple off-campus ED sites as needed
  • Night shifts are 12 hours with flexible start times, typically scheduled for 36 hours per week
  • Patient ratios are typically 1:4, with fast-track ratios up to 1:6
  • Charting is done using Epic; Alaris and Pyxis are used for medication and equipment management
  • RNs are responsible for managing ventilators and BiPAP as there are no onsite RTs, with training provided during onboarding
  • RNs are expected to provide comprehensive care to a full range of patients, including management of intubated patients and use of ventilators and BiPAP
  • Unit support includes LPNs, a charge nurse, and assistance with some phlebotomy, but the majority of responsibilities fall to the RN
  • Charge responsibilities may be assigned with facility-based training if needed
  • First-time travelers are accepted for this assignment
  • Orientation includes hospital orientation, unit-specific education, respiratory training, and a full day on the unit
  • N95s, PAPRs, and goggles are standard PPE provided
  • Holiday coverage expectations are negotiable
  • Any color scrubs are permitted
  • Free parking is available onsite
  • Only medical and religious vaccination exemptions are considered
  • A maximum of 5 days pre-approved time off is allowed; requests for more require manager approval

  • Active WA or compact RN license required
  • Minimum of 2 years of current emergency department experience; CAP requires 5 years minimum
  • Certifications required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, NIHSS, and TNCC
  • Strong ED skills including advanced IV, medication administration, chest tubes, central lines, and ventilator management
  • Telemetric competency exam must be completed and passed prior to start
  • Experience using Epic charting system preferred
